MR Number: 3-99-0084 Point Beach 1 Date: 10/18/99 Two Rivers,Wisconsin phone call from resident inspectors Dockets: 50-266 PWR/W-2-LP Subject: START OF UNIT 1 REFUELING OUTAGE Discussion: Late Friday night, October 15, 1999, the licensee tripped the main turbine and early Saturday morning, October 16, the licensee tripped the reactor to start the Unit 1 refueling outage. The outage is scheduled for 45 days and will include modifications to the safety-related service water system and to the reactor cavity drain barrel, replacement of the B train reactor coolant pump motor, and maintenance on safety-related electrical buses. MR Number: 1-99-0040 Vermont Yankee 1 Date: 10/18/99 Vernon,Vermont SRI FAX Dockets: 50-271 BWR/GE-4 Subject: VERMONT YANKEE HAS ACCEPTED A BID FROM AMERGEN FOR SALE OF THE PLANT Discussion: On October 15, 1999, the owners of Vermont Yankee accepted a bid from Philadelphia-based AmerGen Energy Company for purchase of the plant. The parties expect an execution of a binding purchase and sale agreement during the week of October 18, 1999. Before final closing, the deal will require numerous regulatory approvals including the FERC, the NRC, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and the Vermont Public Service Board. The sale has been the subject of negotiations between Vermont Yankee's owners and AmerGen since February. The asset purchase agreement provides that AmerGen will offer employment to substantially all present Vermont Yankee personnel at the time of the ownership transfer and will recognize the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union Local 300 as the bargaining agent for transferred bargaining unit employees.
