Subject: PALISADES STARTUP FOLLOWING PLANNED MAINTENANCE OUTAGE

Discussion:

The Palisades Nuclear Plant was taken critical at 8:26 p.m. on May 17,
1999, and the main generator was synchronized to the grid at
approximately 8:00 a.m. on May 18, 1999, following a planned maintenance
outage. The outage lasted approximately 10 days. Major activities that
were completed included: replacing the seal package on primary coolant
pump P-50A; repairing lube oil leaks on primary coolant pumps P-50B and
P-50D; and repairing position indicators on the pressurizer power
operated relief valves.

Regional Action:

The resident inspectors monitored the startup activities.
