Copper outfall | | of 44ug/l [micrograms/liter] exceeded limit of 38 ug/l [micrograms/liter]. | | | | The following information was extracted from the licensee's facsimile | | report: | | | | "The copper sample for the plant outfall was above the Preliminary Effluent | | Limit (PEL) of the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Permit. | | This sample is taken as part of the 'Other Requirements' section of the | | permit. This new sample requirement and PEL were added in July to gather | | data to determine if copper sampling will be added to future permits. The | | data would also be used to determine the actual effluent limit. PNPP does | | not add any copper additive to the plant. It is believed that the copper | | increase from intake to outfall is from heat exchanger tubing using | | 'Admiral T Brass' which contains copper. This high reading on outfall | | copper was due to an increase of lake water copper from the lake freezing." | | | | The licensee notified the NRC resident inspector. | +------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ +------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ |Other Nuclear Material |Event Number: 39557 | +------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ +------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | REP ORG: JANX |NOTIFICATION DATE: 02/03/2003| |LICENSEE: JANX |NOTIFICATION TIME: 16:35[EST]| | CITY: PARMA REGION: 3 |EVENT DATE: 12/31/2002| | COUNTY: STATE: MI |EVENT TIME: [EST]| |LICENSE#: 21-16560-01 AGREEMENT: N |LAST UPDATE DATE: 02/03/2003| | DOCKET: |+----------------------------+ | |PERSON ORGANIZATION | | |KENNETH RIEMER R3 | | |WAYNE HODGES NMSS | +------------------------------------------------+ | | NRC NOTIFIED BY: STEVE FLICKINGER | | | HQ OPS OFFICER: MIKE RIPLEY | | +------------------------------------------------+ | |EMERGENCY CLASS: NON EMERGENCY | | |10 CFR SECTION: | | |BOV2 20.2202(b)(1) PERS OVEREXPOSURE/TEDE | | | | | | | | | | | | | | +------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ EVENT TEXT +------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | PERSONNEL OVEREXPOSURE | | | | The Assistant RSO for JANX, Inc. reported that a radiographer working for | | JANX had, as of the end of 2002, received greater than 5 Rem occupational | | exposure for the year. The total exposure was 5.81 Rem based on film badge | | up to December 2002 and pocket dosimetry for December 2002. The employee | | began work for JANX in October 2002 but at that time no exposure information | | for previous employment was available. Film badge data of exposures | | received during employment with two other employers indicated an earlier | | 2002 exposure of 2.43 Rem. This data was received by JANX on 1/31/03 at | | which time the overexposure was recognized. The employee has been | | unemployed since mid-December 2002. | +------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ +------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ |Power Reactor |Event Number: 39558 | +------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ +------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | FACILITY: SAINT LUCIE REGION: 2 |NOTIFICATION DATE: 02/03/2003| | UNIT: [1] [] [] STATE: FL |NOTIFICATION TIME: 19:51[EST]| | RXTYPE: [1] CE,[2] CE |EVENT DATE: 02/03/2003| +------------------------------------------------+EVENT TIME: 17:45[EST]| | NRC NOTIFIED BY: DAVE FIELDS |LAST UPDATE DATE: 02/03/2003| | HQ OPS OFFICER: MIKE RIPLEY +-----------------------------+ +------------------------------------------------+PERSON ORGANIZATION | |EMERGENCY CLASS: NON EMERGENCY |KERRY LANDIS R2 | |10 CFR SECTION: | | |AIND 50.72(b)(3)(v)(D) ACCIDENT MITIGATION | | | | | | | | | | | +-----+----------+-------+--------+-----------------+--------+-----------------+ |UNIT |SCRAM CODE|RX CRIT|INIT PWR| INIT RX MODE |CURR PWR| CURR RX MODE | +-----+----------+-------+--------+-----------------+--------+-----------------+ |1 N Y 100 Power Operation |100 Power Operation | | | | | | | +------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ EVENT TEXT +------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | CONTROL ROOM VENTILATION FILTER TRAIN INOPERABLE | | | | "Plant identified a condition which could render the Unit 1 Control Room | | Ventilation Filter Train inoperable.
