MANUAL REACTOR TRIP DUE TO LOSS OF A MAIN CIRCULATING WATER PUMP

The licensee initiated a manual reactor trip per procedure due to the loss of a main circulating water pump for an unknown reason. All plant systems functioned properly and all rods fully inserted. The plant is stable in Hot Standby with auxiliary feedwater supplying the steam generators and the atmospheric reliefs removing excess heat. The licensee is investigating the cause of the main circulating water pump trip.

The licensee notified the NRC Resident Inspector, State and Local authorities and the Public Service Commission.
