Purpose
This workshop will describe NRC and DOE collaboration initiated by the 2020 Energy Act and funded by the Inflation Reduction Act to develop public data to support the NRC in initiating, executing, and completing activities that will reduce the uncertainty associated with approving commercial-scale facility and transportation operations for the HALEU fuel cycle. Recent executive orders have mandated rapid advanced reactor deployment and supporting infrastructure development. This project, through the development of public data, will support innovation and reduce the uncertainty associated with assessing commercial-scale facility and transportation operations for the HALEU fuel cycle.
The workshop will review ongoing activities from earlier DNCSH calls for experiment and analysis work packages (EAWs), outline potential validation gaps identified by the DNCSH team related to microreactors (ML26014A245), and collect feedback that will be used to inform the third call for EAWs focused on microreactor operations.
