Public Meeting Schedule: Meeting Details

The NRC will hold a partially closed Comment-Gathering Meeting to receive input on regulatory guidance being developed by the NRC to support implementation of the proposed interpretive rule that was issued for comment (90 FR 5743). Under this proposed interpretive rule, operating power reactor licensees may meet the general performance objective and requirements of 10 CFR 73.55(b)(1) - (3) by considering the role of law enforcement response as part of a physical protection program through the adoption of a site-specific Security Bounding Time.

This meeting serves as a follow-up to the February 19, 2025, meeting on the proposed interpretive rule. Additionally, as discussed in SRM-SECY-20-0070 (ML24158A083), NRC staff will also collect information to assess whether current NRC guidance clearly defines the criteria for requiring a license amendment when changes to a site security program constitutes a decrease in safeguards effectiveness. This effort aims to develop or update guidance with objective standards.
