In response to the ADVANCE Act, Section 401 and as described in the report "Advanced Methods of Manufacturing and Construction for Nuclear Energy Projects" (ML24292A171), NRC staff are acting to potentially develop guidance on non-destructive examination (NDE) of novel materials. NRC staff are holding a public meeting to facilitate the exchange of technical information between NRC Staff and External/Industry Program Stakeholders. The focus of this meeting will be to (1) gauge the current level of interest from Industry for NDE of AMT guidance and (2) provide information to assist NRC staff in the establishing and optimizing the scope and schedule for guidance development. Among the information sought is the anticipated timeline(s) for development of materials via advanced manufacturing for use in light water reactors as well as near-term and mid-term and advanced reactors designs.
