Purpose
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff will host a public meeting to explain the NRC staff’s regulatory approach to proposing a risk-informed, technology-inclusive regulatory framework and to promote an understanding of the proposed rule. The staff will discuss the structure and content of the proposed rule and will answer questions to facilitate the submission of meaningful comments on the proposed rule. The staff will focus their presentations on the proposed content that is significantly different from existing regulations. Each topic will also include a discussion of specific requests for comments, as applicable. The staff encourages stakeholders to submit comments on the proposed rule via www.regulations.gov using Docket ID “NRC-2019-0062.”
Attendees are strongly encouraged to read the Part 53 proposed rule (89 FR 86918) and supporting documents, which are available at https://www.regulations.gov/docket/NRC-2019-0062 prior to the meeting.
