Purpose
The purpose of this meeting is to provide an overview of the observations and best practices that the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff identified based on the first review using the Risk-Informed Process for Evaluations (RIPE) (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No.ML22054A006). In addition, Nuclear Energy Institute will discuss its proposals for the NRC staff’s consideration to increase the frequency of use of the RIPE process, as communicated in its letter dated April 19, 2023 (ML23163A048), proposing to increase the risk thresholds for licensing actions submitted under the RIPE. Further, the NRC staff will offer an opportunity to the industry and public to provide feedback/comments on these issues.
