Purpose
The purpose of this workshop will be to share information and insights from subject matter experts on best practices in testing and examination development within the context of qualifying workers to perform jobs that can significantly affect public safety. Participants for this workshop are being sought from within government, academia, and a variety of industries, both within the U.S. and internationally. Examples of the types of questions to be considered during this workshop include the following:
How do you determine that personnel in safety significant jobs (such as, for example, nuclear plant operators, pilots, locomotive engineers, etc.) are qualified to perform the important roles to which they are assigned?
How do you ensure that personnel have mastered the knowledge needed to perform their jobs prior to licensing, certification, qualification, etc.?
How do you have confidence that the examination processes and testing methodologies used ensure that people are appropriately qualified?
How do you determine that personnel in safety significant jobs (such as, for example, nuclear plant operators, pilots, locomotive engineers, etc.) are qualified to perform the important roles to which they are assigned?
