Purpose
The NRC staff is hosting a topical webinar to provide an opportunity for external stakeholders and the NRC staff to exchange information on the NRC’s development of specific sections of the Part 53 preliminary proposed rule language for advanced nuclear reactors. The NRC staff will have a discussion on the Part 53 preliminary proposed rule language for Subpart I, “Maintaining and Revising Licensing Basis Information,” Section 53.1322 – “Evaluating changes to facility as described in final safety analysis reports.” This Part 53 section is available in the NRC ADAMS under accession number ML21243A076. The meeting will also include discussions of other recently released iterations of preliminary rule language for other sections and subparts of Part 53. This document is available in ADAMS under accession number ML21202A175. To support the discussion of the preliminary proposed rule language, the NRC staff has provided a separate “Discussion Table” for Subpart I.

This meeting provides an opportunity for the NRC staff to hear insights and answer questions from the public about the Part 53 rulemaking effort.
