Public Meeting Schedule: Meeting Details

The meeting is between the NRC staff, members of the NEI and industry to discuss the development of additional guidance regarding the content of nuclear power reactor emergency plans. The NRC posted a notice in the Federal Register (FR) on 5/29/15 (80 FR 30739) that published a proposed revision to NUREG-0654/FEMA-REP-1, “Criteria for Preparation and Evaluation of Radiological Emergency Response Plans and Preparedness in Support of Nuclear Power Plants.” The notice also included information regarding the availability of a new preliminary draft NRC guidance document (i.e., EP handbook) that would provide amplifying guidance for the evaluation criteria in Section II of draft NUREG-0654/FEMA-REP-1, Revision 2 that would be applicable to the NRC licensees and applicants. The intent of this meeting is not to discuss the proposed changes to NUREG-0654/FEMA-REP-1, but will focus on the EP handbook and potential alternatives for providing additional guidance regarding the content of nuclear power reactor EP.
