Purpose
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) granted an inservice testing relief request on January 31, 2013 (ADAMS Accession No. ML13022A456), for the Core Spray System pumps. The relief request had 3 parts: (1) relief to continue running the quarterly test with dual pumps, (2) relief to permit continued use of flow reference curve as acceptance criterion, and (3) relief to delay the comprehensive pump test to the next planned refueling outage. The NRC staff granted the request through the end of refueling outage (RF) 17, except for the use of reference curves in item (2) above. The use of reference curves may continue until one year after startup from RF 17. The licensee will discuss its proposed extension request on the first item for the remainder of the current 3rd interval.
