Purpose
South Texas Project (STP) currently uses Crossflow Ultrasonic Flow Measurement (UFM) technology as part of the calorimetric calculation for reactor power. UFM technology is an approved analytical method in the Administartive Controls of Technical Specifications (TS) 6.9.1.6.b.9. STP Nuclear Operating Company (STPNOC) plans to submit a License Amendment Request (LAR) to change the TS from UFM to Leading Edge Flow Meter (LEFM) technology for determining rated thermal power. The purpose of the pre-licensing meeting is for STPNOC to brief the NRC staff on the scope and schedule of the proposed LAR.
