Purpose
To provide additional background information on the Draft
Regulatory Issue Summary (RIS), “Tornado Missile Protection” and
the Proposed Draft Interim Enforcement Policy (IEP). The draft RIS
restates the staff’s position on regulatory requirements for plant
protection from tornado missile hazards. The draft IEP grants
licensees a risk-informed period of enforcement discretion which
allows continued reactor operation while licensees identify and
correct non-conformances. This IEP will be made available for
review in advance of the meeting.
