Mark Franke

Mark Franke serves as Director for the Division of Reactor Safety, Region II. Since joining the NRC, Mr. Franke has held progressively more responsible positions within Region II and Region III. In Region II, he has served as Deputy Director for the Division of Reactor Projects, as Chief of Reactor Projects Branch 2, and as Chief, Operations Branch 2 and Chief, Engineering Branch 3 in the Division of Reactor Safety. In Region III, he served as Senior Resident Inspector at the Perry Nuclear Power Plant. He has also served as Acting Deputy Director, Division of Advanced Reactors and Rulemaking, Office of New Reactors, and Acting Deputy Director, Division of Resource Management and Administration, Region II. Before joining the NRC, Mr. Franke worked in the private sector and served as a nuclear submarine officer in the United States Navy. He received a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the United States Naval Academy in 1988.
