Mohamed Shams

Dr. Mohamed Shams is currently the Director of the Division of Advanced Reactors and Non-Power Production and Utilization Facilities at the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission.  He is responsible for licensing reviews and policy initiatives for advanced reactors.  He is also responsible for licensing and oversight of the nation's research reactors, testing facilities, and medical isotope production facilities.  His career spans over 25 years in research, commercial, federal and nuclear regulation programs.  He joined the NRC in 2007 as a civil engineer and was subsequently promoted to the Senior Executive Service as Deputy Director for the Division of Operating Reactor Licensing then to his current position.
