David Castelveter
David Castelveter was named Director of Public Affairs at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission in September 2016. Reporting directly to the agency's Chairman, he is responsible for all external communications, to include media, new/social media and web-based communications.
Prior to joining the NRC, Castelveter served as Deputy Assistant Administrator for the Office of Strategic Communications and Public Affairs at the Transportation Security Administration. In this role, he oversaw the agency's external and internal communications functions. He joined TSA in May 2012 as the Director of External Communications and served as Acting Assistant Administrator on several occasions.
Castelveter has nearly 40 years of aviation experience, including corporate communications, investor relations, sales, marketing and operations. He previously served five years as Vice President of Communications for the Air Transport Association, now Airlines for America (A4A), managing the association's external, internal, crisis, advocacy, and coalition communications. He began his aviation career in 1977 at Pittsburgh-based Allegheny Airlines, now known at American Airlines. He served as US Airways' Managing Director of Corporate Communications, responsible for the company's communications and investor relations functions prior to joining A4A. Castelveter is a military veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy, as well as the Navy Reserve, Army National Guard and Army Reserve. A Vietnam veteran, he retired from military duty in 2001 as a Master Sergeant and Chief of Army Reserve Public Affairs at the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia.
