Subject: Issuance of 2002-23

Information Notice 2002-23, "UNAUTHORIZED ADMINISTRATION OF BYPRODUCT
MATERIAL FOR MEDICAL USE," was issued on July 16, 2002.

This notice was issued to all medical licensees to remind them of the
importance of appropriate authorization before administering byproduct
material to humans for medical purposes.  Over the past year, NRC has
become aware of cases involving the deliberate unauthorized use of
licensed material at medical facilities.
