Mark Foy
Mark is the Chief Executive and Chief Nuclear Inspector at the United Kingdom’s Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR), the independent regulator for nuclear safety, security and safeguards in the UK.
He is an Executive Board member of the ONR and is accountable to parliament for delivering effective regulation that ensures the nuclear industry conducts its operations safely and securely, ensuring the protection of society.
During the last 19 years he has successfully led ONR’s regulation across various sectors of the nuclear industry, securing improvements in safety performance of operational facilities and leading the design assessment and licensing of new reactor technologies seeking deployment in the UK.
Mark has 35 years’ experience of the UKs civil and defense nuclear industry, combined with extensive international experience, having undertaken various senior roles within the international regulatory community, he provides authoritative leadership and advice on nuclear safety and its regulation.
Mark is a Chartered Fellow of the UKs Nuclear Institute and has a Bachelor’s Degree with Honours in Mechanical Engineering.
