                  ANSYS Revision Identifier Description

ANSYS revision identifiers consist of a major revision
level, a
minor revision level, a correction level, and occasionally a
special
version level an example of how this is constructed is shown
below:

                        Figure "5.0A-10" omitted.

Major revision level changes indicate that new features have
been
added to the program and that some level of program architecture
change
and/or file structure has occurred. Minor revision level changes
also
indicate that new features have been added to the program, but
files are
upwardly compatible. All known error fixes are included in both
minor
and major revisions. Changes to the correction level that it is
primarily an error correction release. Special version
identifies
indicate that one or more additional minor changes have been made
to the
program, normally to circumvent an error. Special versions we
not
general releases to all ANSYS licensees, since they typically
represent
errors occurring only on one system, a subset of our customers
who have
specific graphics devices, etc.

The ANSYS revision identifier(s) shown under "corrected in"
on the
front side of this Class3 Error Report indicates the first
possible
revision that could contain the correction. A major program
change to
fix an error can dictate that the next minor or major revision
will
contain the fix rather than the next correction level. For
example, when
errors were being reported while Rev. 4.3A was the latest
production
version, most Class3 error reposes indicated that 4.3B was the
"corrected
in" revision. Others requiring significant code resources were
reported
as fixed in 4.4. Rev. 4.3B was never released, but Rev. 4.4
contained all
error corrections noted as fixed in 4.3B.

An identifier indicated under "corrected in" does not
guarantee that
a general release of that revision of ANSYS will occur. It does
indicate
that the correction is known and implemented in the coding that
would be
part of the general release.

                     Equivalent Product Identifiers

The ANSYS family of products occasionally undergoes name
changes
between revisions and/or changes in the functionality of derived
products
(such as ANSYS-PC/LINEAR). to minimize the potential for
confusion in
these areas, the important product name equivalences (similar
program
functionality and error content) are listed below.

ANSYS/ED contain all errors shown for the full ANSYS
product,
                                             starting at Rev.
5.0,
                                             and beyond, unless
otherwise
                                             noted

PC/LINEAR is equivalent to WS/LINEAR at Rev.
4.4A
                                        and ANSYS/LINEAR
starting at
                                             Rev. 5.0.

PC/THERMAL is equivalent to WS/THERMAL at Rev.
4.4A
                                        and ANSYS/THERMAL
starting at
                                             Rev. 5.0.

PREPPOST contains relevant errors the full ANYS
product,
               shown for for included pre-
and
                                             postprocessing
functionality

                                                  ERROR NO: 95-21

KEYWORDS: ELEM17 PIPE17 THERMAL LOAD

DESCRIPTION OF ERROR:

All results of an analysis containing PIPE17 elements with
thermal
loads are incorrect. The incorrect thermal load vector for
PIPE17 is of
the right order of magnitude, but pollutes the entire solution
for
analyses containing these elements.

KEYWORDS: GUI REAL CONSTANTS ELEM46 ELEM91
ELEM99

DESCRIPTION OF ERROR:

The real constant information for layered elements SOLID46,
SHELL91,
and SHELL99 is incorrect if the data is entered by means of the
Graphical
User Interface (GUI) dialog boxes. This only occurs when the
number of
layers (NL) is greater than eight for SHELL91 and ten for SOLID46
and
SHELL99. The RMODIF commands created by additional dialog boxes
after
the first are not offset correctly and therefore overwrite
previous real
constant data input in earlier dialog boxes.

DESCRIPTION OF ERROR:

(LSWRITE) or the file written by the CDWRITE command. If a

DESCRIPTION OF ERROR:

When line or area symmetry or anti-symmetry conditions are
transferred to the finite element model as nodal DOF constraints,
no node
rotation is performed for any node where its existing nodal DOF
direction
is within 2.6 degrees of the required constraint direction.

SUGGESTED USER ACTION FOR RUNNING ON UNCORRECTED VERSION:

For a symmetry or anti-symmetry surface having its normal
direction
within 2.6 degrees of, but not parallel to, a global DOF
direction, use
nodal symmetry (the DSYM command) rather than line or area
symmetry.
(Hint: The CSKP command can be used to define an appropriate
local
coordinate system to be used with DSYM.)

COMMENTS:

The corrected version will perform a node rotation unless an
existing nodal DOF direction is within 0.081 degrees of the
required
constraint direction.

ANSYS (Registered Trademark) CLASS3 ERROR REPORT

                                                       ERROR NO:
95-28

KEYWORDS: BFKDEL NODAL BODY FORCES

DESCRIPTION OF ERROR:

     BFKDEL has the following errors:

1. The documentation of BFKDEL (which deletes keypoint body
forces)
does not adequately explain the associated deletion of nodal
body
     forces. The statement:

"Deletes body force loads (and all corresponding finite
element
loads) for a specified keypoint and label:"

     should read:

"Deletes body force loads for specified keypoints and
labels.
Also deletes the corresponding nodal body force loads
from the
nodes associated with the specified keypoints, and from
the
nodes associated with the lines, areas, or volumes
connected to
          the specified keypoints."

Note that transfer of the keypoint body forces would
have
applied body forces to this same set of nodes.

2. BFKDEL, KP, ALL fails to delete ANY nodal body forces.

SUGGESTED USER ACTION FOR RUNNING ON UNCORRECTED VERSION:

For error 1. Be aware that body forces applied to nodes can be
deleted
               by BFKDEL.

For error 2. Use BFKDEL,KP,TEMP (or other specific body force
label)
               rather than BFKDEL,KP,ALL.

DESCRIPTION OF ERROR:

The command descriptions for the ASUM, GSUM, KSUM, and VSUM
commands
(ANSYS User's Manual, Volume II - Commands) erroneously state
that the
geometry statistics generated by these commands are reported in
the
active coordinate system. The results of these commands are
actually
reported in the global Cartesian coordinate system.
