See our Site Disclaimer for more information.The Civil Rights Program administered by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) provides for the prompt, fair, and impartial processing of discrimination complaints filed under the following statutes (as amended):
- Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964
- Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964
- Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (20 U.S.C. §1681 et seq.)
- the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 (ADEA)
- the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (Rehab Act)
- the Equal Pay Act of 1963 (EPA)
- Executive Order 11478, “Equal Employment Opportunity in the Federal Government,” of 1969
- Title II, Section 401, of the Energy Reorganization Act of 1974
In so doing, the NRC's Civil Rights Program helps to eliminate or modify procedures and practices that give rise to valid discrimination complaints that are filed under these statutes. For additional detail, please see the following related pages:

The NRC’s Employment Discrimination Complaint Process is administered in accordance with the regulations of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), as defined in Title 29, Part 1614, of the Code of Federal Regulations (29 CFR Part 1614). As such, the discrimination complaint process is available to agency employees, former employees, and applicants for employment with the NRC, who believe that they have been subjected to discrimination based on any of the following factors:
- race, color, or national origin
- religion
- gender
- age (40 and over)
- mental or physical disability
- sexual orientation
The NRC's discrimination complaint process is also available to agency employees, former employees, and applicants, who believe that they have been subjected to reprisal for participating in an activity that is protected by the civil rights statutes listed above, or oppose practices made unlawful by those statutes.
The NRC's Equal Opportunity discrimination complaint process for complaints filed under under Title VI and Title IX is administered in accordance with the regulations established by the U.S. Department of Justice.
