Pre-Application Activities for Advanced Reactors

Below is a summary of all Advanced Reactor (non-LWR and LWR) applicants, vendors, and research/test reactors that have notified the NRC of their intent to engage, along with a history of those interactions.
The table of contents is arranged by technology and is linked to each applicant or vendors pre-application page.
The NRC guidance for these pre-application engagements is found in Appendix A of the Interim Staff Guidance DANU-ISG-2022-05, “Review of Risk-Informed, Technology-Inclusive Advanced Reactor Applications—Roadmap.” While this guidance focuses on non-light water reactor technologies, the document, especially the environmental sections, generally applies to all reactor technologies.
To be considered active, a vendor or applicant must either submit a Regulatory Engagement Plan (REP) or show a substantial history of pre-application interactions with the NRC. If no project activity (e.g., interactions with the NRC, updates to REPs, etc.) occurs for one year, the project will be deemed inactive.
