Wholesale Revision of Regulations Under Executive Order 14300

Introduction
Executive Order (EO) 14300, “Ordering the Reform of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission,” signed by President Donald J. Trump on May 23, 2025, directed the NRC to undertake a review and wholesale revision of its regulations and guidance documents, and issue notice(s) of proposed rulemaking effecting this revision within 9 months of the date of this order, and issue final rules and guidance to conclude this revision process within 18 months of the date of this order. The table below identifies the NRC’s completed and ongoing rulemaking efforts to implement this requirement of EO 14300.
How to use this table:
- Click on the “Title” of individual rules to obtain more detailed information, including an abstract of the rulemaking’s intent.
- “Rule Phase” indicates where rules are in the process (i.e., completed, proposed, final, or direct final).
- Hyperlinked “Publication Dates” indicate that a rule has been published in the Federal Register for its respective phase. Click on the hyperlink to go to the Federal Register notice.
- The Public Meeting column indicates whether the NRC intends to conduct a public meeting on the rulemaking during the comment period. Dates will be added as public meetings are noticed and will be hyperlinked to meeting information.
- The “Public Comment Information” column includes hyperlinks to historical information or opportunities to provide comment, depending on the phase of the rule, and indicates when the comment period closes, if applicable.
