Project Overview
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is currently engaged in pre-application activities with Appalachian Power Company (APCo) regarding a future ESP that would be at the company-owned Joshua Falls property in Campbell County, Virginia, for a small modular reactor (SMR) (gross electrical output (MWe) to be determined later).

Regulatory Engagement Plan
On March 5, 2025, APCo submitted a non-proprietary notice of intent, regulatory engagement plan (REP) and response to Regulatory Issue Summary (RIS) 2020-02. The table below will give members of the public an opportunity to stay informed on APCo’s latest licensing plans.
