As part of the NRC’s environmental review for the Crow Butte Resources, Inc. License Renewal Application (see additional information below), the NRC staff is preparing an environmental assessment (EA) under the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969, as amended (NEPA) and a Section 106 review under the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, as amended (NHPA). The NRC staff is coordinating the NEPA review and NHPA review. The NRC staff is soliciting comments on the historic and cultural resources sections of the draft EA documenting the potential NEPA environmental impacts on historic and cultural resources from the Crow Butte Resources, Inc. license renewal and the findings under Section 106 of the NHPA. The historic and cultural resources sections of the draft EA can be found at “Draft for Public Review-Environmental Impacts on Historic and Cultural Resources from the License Renewal for the Crow Butte Project and Marsland Expansion Area in Dawes County, Nebraska.” Please submit any comments via electronic e-mail to Christine Pineda at Christine.Pineda@nrc.gov by June 3, 2026.
