NRC ASSIGNS NEW RESIDENT INSPECTOR TO MILLSTONE
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission's Region 1 Office has named a new resident inspector for the Millstone nuclear power plant, in Waterford, Conn. Paul C. Cataldo, formerly an operator licensing examiner for the NRC Region 3 Office, near Chicago, will be assigned to the Millstone Unit 1 reactor.
Prior to joining the NRC, Mr. Cataldo was a materials test reactor operator at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell. He also has experience in the manufacturing industry, in which he performed, among other things, quality assurance inspections, between 1989 and 1993. From 1983 to 1989, Mr. Cataldo served as a machinist's mate aboard a U.S. Navy nuclear attack submarine.
A graduate of the University of Massachusetts-Lowell with a bachelor's degree in nuclear engineering, Mr. Cataldo lives with his wife, Kimberly, in North Stonington, Conn.
Each U.S. commercial nuclear plant has at least two NRC resident inspectors. They serve as the agency's eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections, monitoring major work projects and interfacing with plant workers and the public.
Mr. Cataldo can be reached at (860) 447-3170.
