NOTE TO EDITORS:
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff will meet with officials of Northeast Utilities on Wednesday, February 5, at 1 p.m. at the Waterford Town Hall to discuss the utility's selection of contractors for the Independent Corrective Action Program and for the employee concerns program at the Millstone facilities.
At 7 that evening, the NRC staff will solicit comments from the public at the Waterford Town Hall on the selection of contractors for the two programs. In addition, the NRC staff will present the results of an independent, generic assessment of the likelihood and consequences of an extended loss of spent fuel pool cooling.
NOTE: Copies of the correspondence between the NRC and NU pertaining to the selection of contractors are available at the Waterford Public Library.
