As discussed at the recent regional meetings related to 10 CFR 73, Section
73.55, "Requirements for physical protection of licensed activities in nuclear
power reactors against industry sabotage," we have enclosed a copy of the
Intrusion Detection Systems Handbook, SAND 76-0554, dated November 1976. This
handbook was prepared by the Facilities Protection Department, Sandia
Laboratories, Albuquerque, New Mexico, under contract with the Division of
Safeguards and Security, U.S. Energy Research and Development Administration
and is made available for your information as a reference source for use in
the design, installation, and operation of intrusion detection systems.
This document is marked by ERDA as Official Use Only; however, it does not
require any special handling on your part. Revisions to the handbook will be
sent directly to all recipients by ERDA. Any comments on the handbook that
