GENERIC COMMUNICATIONS
Information Notice 99-22, "10 CFR 34.43(a)(1); EFFECTIVE DATE FOR
RADIOGRAPHER CERTIFICATION AND PLANS FOR ENFORCEMENT DISCRETION," will be
issued on June 25, 1999.
This notice is being issued to all industrial radiography licensees to
remind them of the effective date for the radiographer certification
requirement, respond to industry concerns about not being able to meet
the deadline, and advise recipients of Commission plans for enforcement
action to address failures to meet the deadline. The certification
deadline is June 27, 1999. The Commission intends to exercise
enforcement discretion to extend the deadline.

Subject: SECURITY EVENT
Discussion:
At approximately 0250, January 22, 1999, a female arrived at the Fort St.
Vrain facility seeking protection from a male assailant. The guard
contacted the Weld County Sheriff Department via 911. A representative
from the County Sherrif Department responded and placed the female into
protective custody.
The assailant was never seen at the security facility by the guards. The
guard said the female appeared to have been drinking and had visible
indications of an assault (scratches, bruises).
Regional Action:
DNMS/FCDB contacted the DOE Idaho Program Manager for the Ft. St. Vrain
ISFSI and discussed the incident. The Program Manager said the County
Sheriff's Department had taken the female into protective custody, had
impounded her car, but had not taken the alleged assailant into custody
as of 0900 this morning. The Program Manager was requested to fax copies
of occurrence report/security reports to RIV for review.
