Paolo Contri

Paolo Contri has a PhD in Structural Mechanics awarded at the University of Padova (Italy). After a long experience in engineering consultancy, he joined the IAEA, Engineering Safety Section, in 1998 for seven years. After four years at the European Commission, Joint Research Center, Institute for Energy in Petten (The Netherlands), he joined ENEL in Rome, where he served as Head of Nuclear Safety Division in the Nuclear Engineering Dept for 10 years. In 2020 he joined the IAEA as Section Head of the External Event Safety Section (EESS) in the Dept. of Nuclear Safety, which manages document development, safety review missions and research projects on all external hazard related issues, from siting to design, to safety assessment. A three year research project on "Climate Change Challenges to Nuclear Installations" is under implementation at the EESS.
