2.0 Site Status Summary

The Hecla Mining Durita Facility, located near Naturita, CO, is a former heap-leach uranium recovery facility. The site is closed and decommissioning work has been completed. The site is closed; decommissioning and reclamation have been completed with all tailings placed in the capped repository. Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment submitted the revised Completion Review Report (CRR) to NRC in 2015 and is waiting on the final approval from NRC. Acceptance of the CRR is necessary prior to transferring the facility license to the U.S. Department of Energy for long-term management under general license.
