Membership

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has, over the years, developed numerous radiation protection, dose assessment, and emergency response computer codes. These codes are used by NRC staff, other U.S. federal agencies, NRC’s Agreement States, licensees, researchers, and international partners.

RAMP was established as an integrated NRC program to prioritize, maintain, and update all of the NRC’s radiation protection codes, control distribution of the codes to users outside of the NRC, and maintain user forums in which users may discuss the use of the codes and seek answers to specific problems that they may encounter with the codes.

The RAMP user group has over 5,000 active members and partners across 50+ countries. RAMP has had over 10,000 code users across the history of the program.

There is a free membership tier, and most codes are free for most users. Read more on user types below.

Note, CAP88, RESRAD, Turbo FRMAC, and VSP are RAMP-affiliated and joint-sponsored codes that RAMP supports but does not distribute. Their individual code pages will take you to the non-NRC institutional sites (EPA, Argonne, Sandia, and PNNL, respectively) where you can apply to acquire them.
