REACTOR WATER CLEANUP SYSTEM DECLARED INOPERABLE
"On May 27, 2018 at 0630 EDT, the Reactor Water Cleanup (RWCU) System Isolation Differential Flow - High function was declared inoperable as a result of indicating downscale. This condition would have prevented the primary containment isolation valves for the RWCU system from automatically isolating on a high differential flow instrumentation signal.
"At 0753, RWCU was shutdown and the affected penetration flow paths were isolated in accordance with station procedures per Fermi Technical Specifications.
"The cause of the event is under investigation.
"There was no radiological release associated with this event. All other RWCU primary containment isolation instrumentation functions remained operable and the associated RWCU system primary containment isolation valves were capable of being remotely closed by the control room operators throughout the event. However, the condition is reportable pursuant to 10 CFR 50.72(b)(3)(v)(C) and 10 CFR 50.72(b)(3)(v)(D).
"The NRC Resident Inspector was notified."
