OFFSITE NOTIFICATION RESULTING FROM AN INADVERTANT ACTIVATION OF A SIREN
"Prairie Island Nuclear Plant was notified by Goodhue County Dispatch that a public alert notification siren inadvertently activated at 0430 hours. Local law enforcement officials deactivated the siren at 0500 hours. [Greater than] 70% of sirens remain functional in the 10 mile EPZ [Emergency Planning Zone]. The communications company has been contacted to investigate the cause of the false activation."
The NRC Resident Inspector has been notified.
