The NRC staff conduct thorough analyses of various environmental impacts during the environmental review process. This comprehensive evaluation encompasses various resource areas to ensure that all potential effects are considered. Each resource area analyzed contributes vital information that is integrated into either the environmental assessment or the environmental impact statement. These documents serve as essential tools for decision-making, providing a clear understanding of how proposed projects may affect the environment.

The graphic above illustrates some of the typical resource areas that NRC staff examine during their environmental reviews. By systematically examining these areas, the NRC aims to ensure that all environmental considerations are accounted for, promoting informed and responsible decision-making.
