NRC Proposes $36,000 Civil Penalty Against Industrial Radiography Company for Safety Violations

NAPERVILLE, Ill. — The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has proposed a $36,000 civil penalty against Acuren Inspection Inc. for four safety violations involving industrial radiography at the company’s Alaska site. The company is licensed by the NRC to conduct industrial radiography at multiple locations.

An NRC inspection identified failures to conduct required radiation surveys, follow radiography procedures, adequately oversee radiographic activities and provide proper instructions for responding to equipment alarms.

The NRC issued the enforcement action after reviewing the violations, the company’s written response, and corrective actions the company has taken or planned to bring its activities into compliance with NRC regulations. Acuren has 30 days to pay the fine, dispute it, or ask a neutral third party to review the case.
