Safety Evaluation Report

The NRC staff reviewed the Columbia Generating Station license renewal application for compliance with the requirements of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 54, "Requirements for Renewal of Operating Licenses for Nuclear Power Plants," and prepared this report to document its preliminary findings. The document was issued on August 30, 2011, as "Safety Evaluation Report with Open Items Related to the License Renewal of Columbia Generating Station."

Subsequently, on February 28, 2012, the document "Safety Evaluation Report Related to the License Renewal of Columbia Generating Station" was issued.

In May 2012, the staff published the final "Safety Evaluation Report Related to the License Renewal of Columbia Generating Station" as NUREG-2123.

Environmental Impact Statement

Environmental Impact Statement NUREG-1437, “Generic Environmental Impact Statement for License Renewal of Nuclear Plants Regarding Columbia Generating Station (NUREG-1437, Supplement 47) Final Report for Comment,” was published in April 2012.  This supplement documents the NRC staff’s review of the environmental issues at Columbia Generating Station regarding the Energy Northwest application for license renewal of that facility.  The supplement was prepared in accordance with 10 CFR 51.71.  This supplemental environmental impact statement includes the NRC staff’s analysis that considers and weighs the environmental effects of the proposed action (license renewal), the environmental impacts of alternatives to the proposed action, and potential mitigative measures for reducing or avoiding adverse impacts.  It also includes the NRC staff’s recommendation regarding the proposed action.
