W17 Current Issues in Emergency Preparedness
The NRC, in coordination with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), is currently involved in rulemaking to update emergency preparedness regulations and associated guidance. This session will provide an overview of the implementation of the final rule package and guidance documents provided to the Commission and the next steps to include a revision to Supplement 3 to NUREG‑0654/FEMA‑REP‑1, “Criteria for Protective Action Recommendations for General Emergencies.” FEMA will present the current revision to the Radiological Emergency Preparedness Program Manual and Guidance.
