Project Overview
The staff of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) engaged in pre-application activities on the BWXT mPower™ small modular reactor design from 2009 until 2014. The BWXT mPower™ is a light-water integral pressurized water reactor (iPWR) with the reactor and steam generator located in a single vessel located in an underground containment. The BWXT mPower™ reactor has a rated thermal output of 530 MWt and electrical output of 180 MWe.
