2016 Aircraft Impact Assessment (AIA) Inspection Reports

The purpose of inspection reports is to document the inspection scope, observation, and findings of inspections conducted by the NRC. The NRC performs inspections to oversee the commercial nuclear industry to determine whether its requirements are being met by applicants, licensees and their contractors. The NRC performs inspections to verify the quality and suitability of the aircraft impact assessment and review any issues identified during the analysis and the corrective actions associated with the issue.

This inspection is for the design certification renewal application submitted to the NRC by GE-Hitachi on December 7, 2010.

Westinghouse Electric Company, Cranberry Township, PA, limited scope inspection to assess compliance with selected portions of their quality assurance (QA) program in accordance with 10 CFR Part 50, Appendix B, and 10 CFR 50.150, as it pertains to safety-related activities associated with control of design changes for V.C. Summer and the consideration of the effects these changes may have on the AP1000's aircraft impact assessment (AIA).
