Dr. Robert Daum is a Senior Technical Executive in the Fuel & Chemistry Department within the Nuclear Sector at the Electric Power Research Institute. Dr. Daum leads a research, development & demonstration program associated with advanced technology fuel, including accident tolerant fuel and fuel cycle optimization concepts with an emphasis on informing the extension of burnup and enrichment limits. Rob first joined EPRI as a Senior Project Manager within the Fuel Reliability Program (FRP) in 2008 and was FRP Program Manager from 2013 to 2019.
Prior to joining EPRI, Dr. Daum worked at Argonne National Laboratory and was responsible as Principal Investigator and Lead Experimenter for task and milestone completion for various programs involving mechanical testing and characterization of irradiated fuel, cladding and stainless steels in support of licensing for the industry and the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
Dr. Daum holds a doctorate degree in Materials Science and master’s degree in Nuclear Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University and two bachelor’s degrees in Engineering and Physics from the University of Pittsburgh.
