Julio Lara

Mr. Lara started his career with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Region I office in 1988, as an Electrical Reactor Inspector.  He was then assigned as a Construction Resident Inspector at Watts Bar Unit 1.  Following completion of the Watts Bar Unit, Mr. Lara was reassigned as a Resident Inspector and later as Senior Resident Inspector at the Monticello and Kewaunee sites, respectively.  He was later promoted to Chief, Electrical Engineering Branch, and Technical Support Staff Team Leader, in the Region III office.  In 2015, following a subsequent assignment as Deputy Director, Division of Nuclear Materials Safety (DNMS), Mr. Lara was selected the Senior Executive Service (SES) position of, Deputy Director, DRP, Region III.

Mr. Lara received a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Houston and is a Registered Professional Engineer.  He is a graduate of the NRC’s SES Candidate Development Program.
