Shivani Mehta

Shivani Mehta serves as the Technical Assistant in the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission's Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NRR), Division of Risk Assessment.  She joined the NRC in 2015 as a Fire Protection Engineer and has served as a Project Manager and Risk and Reliability Analyst before transitioning to her current role.  Prior to joining the NRC, Ms. Mehta was a fire protection engineer at the Consumer Product Safety Commission. 

Ms. Mehta is the co-chair for the NRC Asian Pacific Islander American Advisory Committee and a member of Next Generation of Nuclear Leaders (NextGen).  She received her bachelors’ degrees in fire protection and electrical engineering from the University of Maryland, her master’s degree in Mechanical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley and is a licensed professional engineer in the State of Maryland.
