United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission - Protecting People and the Environment

Carola Gregorich

Dr. Carola Gregorich is a Principal Technical Leader at the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI).

Carola leads research activities in radiation field source term control and radiation field generation – activities that bridge EPRI's Radiation Safety and Water Chemistry Control Programs. The Radiation Management and Source Term Technical Strategy Group, an active peer-to-peer group is as much at the center of the activities as are the chemistry and radiation field databases. Seeing benefits of using data science in radiation field research, she is at the forefront of implementing data science approaches in the programs' activities.

Carola's expertise is in nuclear, radiochemistry, analytical, light water reactor chemistry. Prior to joining EPRI, she worked for GE Nuclear and AREVA NP. She holds a master in analytical chemistry from Humboldt University to Berlin and a Ph.D. from Philipps University, Marburg, Germany. As a Feodor-Lynen-Research Fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation she identified a new isotope of plutonium (231) at the Lawrence Berkeley Nat'l Lab, Berkeley, CA and working at Lawrence Livermore Nat'l Lab she was a member of the Livermorium (element 116) discovery team.
