Holly Harrington

Holly Harrington is the Senior Level Advisor in the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission's Office of Public Affairs. Ms. Harrington joined the agency in 2004. She provides strategic advice to agency leadership, especially related to crisis response and social media, participates in an international communication working group, and supports the development and implementation of public affairs tactics and products. In 2012, she received a Meritorious Service Award for her efforts related to social media and the agency's communication response to the Fukushima nuclear accident. In addition to her public affairs duties, she served as speechwriter for then-Chairman Stephen Burns from September 2015 to January 2017.

Before joining the NRC, Ms. Harrington was a public affairs officer at the Federal Emergency Management agency. Her federal career began at the Department of Veterans Affairs, where she served as public affairs director at two VA medical centers and later as Chief Communication Officer for the Under Secretary for Health.

She began her career as a print journalist in the San Francisco Bay Area. Ms. Harrington holds a bachelor's degree in journalism (reporting and editing) and a master's degree in mass communications, both from San Jose State University.
