Martin Murphy

Marty Murphy joined Xcel Energy in February 2013 as the Director, Nuclear Licensing & Regulatory Affairs. Marty has over 30 years experience in the nuclear industry with a background in power reactor regulation, operations, and maintenance. Prior to Xcel Energy, Marty spent 10 years at the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NRR), in Rockville, MD and held a number of Branch Chief positions; notably Chief of the Mechanical, Civil, Structural branch in NRR’s Division of Engineering, Chief of NRR’s Engineering Quality and Vendor Inspection Branch and Chief of the Generic Communications & Power Uprate Branch in the Division of Policy and Rulemaking.

Prior to joining the NRC, Marty worked in Materials Engineering and System Engineering at Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Plant and at the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory as a nuclear plant engineer.

Marty is a graduate of Villanova University.
