Catherine Haney

Catherine Haney joined the NRC in 1981 as a Health Physicist Intern in the former Office of Inspection and Enforcement. In 1983, she left government service for private industry and worked as a consultant at a health physics consulting firm, supporting the medical and industrial community. In 1989, Ms. Haney returned to the NRC, Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards (NMSS) as a Quality Assurance Specialist, and later as a Senior Health Physicist.

In 2001, Ms. Haney entered the Senior Executive Service (SES) Federal Candidate Development Program, and after completing the program was appointed to and served in senior management positions in NMSS, the Office of Nuclear Security and Incident Response (NSIR), the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation and the Office of the Commission under Chairman Nils Diaz. In 2008, Ms. Haney was appointed as Deputy Director of NMSS, and became Office Director in May 2010. In January 2016 Ms. Haney assumed the position of Regional Administrator, Region II.

Catherine Haney holds a B.S. degree in Radiological Technology from the University of Maryland and an M.S. degree in Radiological Science from Emory University.
