CJ Fong

CJ Fong is Chief of the Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) Oversight Branch in the NRC’s Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation, where he supervises a team of 12 risk analysts.  CJ joined the NRC’s Region II Office in 2001 as a co-op engineer, while studying nuclear engineering at Georgia Tech.  Since then, he has held a variety of technical and supervisory positions, including reactor inspector, senior construction project inspector, reliability and risk analyst, and team leader.  From 2006 - 2008, he participated in the NRC's Graduate Fellowship Program, earning a Master's Degree under the advisement of former NRC Commissioner and ACRS Chair Dr. George Apostolakis.  In 2017, he served as the acting Reactor Technical Assistant to Chairman Svinicki and in 2018 he served as acting Reactor Technical Assistant to Commissioner Wright.  He is a licensed professional engineer and holds a Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering from Georgia Tech and a Master's Degree in Nuclear Engineering (with PRA focus) from MIT.  CJ currently resides in Silver Spring, MD with his wife Betsy and their three children.
