John Sauger

John Sauger joined EnergySolutions in 2013.  In 2015, Mr. Sauger was appointed Chief Nuclear Officer of EnergySolutions (and subsidiaries) 10CFR50 licensed reactor facilities which include the Zion units in Illinois and the Lacrosse Boiling Water Reactor in Wisconsin. Since joining EnergySolutions, Mr. Sauger has grown the decommissioning business line through the addition of the San Onofre project in San Clemente, CA., and the Fort Calhoun decommissioning project outside Omaha, Nebraska. Today, EnergySolutions has 77.5% of the active US Decommissioning market.

From 2008 to 2012, he was Executive Vice-President of Project Management and Construction for Bruce Power in Ontario where he directed the refurbishment of Bruce Power Units 1 and 2, as well as site industrial and radiological safety. From 2003 to 2008, he was Senior Vice-President of Operations for Shaw Federal Services where he was responsible for USACE, and AFCEE projects that included the reconstruction of infrastructure in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina and construction of airport and security projects in Afghanistan. Mr. Sauger has extensive experience in commercial nuclear operations, decommissioning, and large capital project execution.

Mr. Sauger received his Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Engineering from Maine Maritime Academy.
